In Phantom Lawyer Episode 10 Recap, the narrative dives deep into the origins of a legacy built on friendship, only to be threatened by secrets buried for decades. The episode opens with a poignant encounter as I Rang arrives at his office to find Jung Hee, the woman he previously bought vegetables from. The atmosphere is thick with emotion as I Rang mistakenly believes she has passed away, having seen her in a vision. However, the feisty Jung Hee quickly corrects him, proving she is very much alive, though she carries a heavy burden that only a “Phantom Lawyer” can resolve.

As Na Yeon joins them, the supernatural elements of the show take center stage. I Rang notices a ghost—an elderly man—lingering near Jung Hee. Through a series of intuitive questions about the ghost’s appearance and attire, I Rang confirms that the spirit is none other than Dong Sik, Jung Hee’s late husband. This revelation sets the stage for a journey back to 1989, a year that defined their lives. We see a young Jung Hee in a bustling market, mesmerized by a cool young shoemaker. This flashback reveals the humble beginnings of what would become a massive empire known as Idol Shoes. Jung Hee used her wedding funds to start the business, and with the help of Dong Sik and a woman named Seon Hwa, they built a dream from the ground up.

The emotional core of the episode centers on Seon Hwa, a woman originally from North Korea who worked tirelessly with the couple in South Korea. Her only wish was to be reunited with the son she left behind. However, tragedy struck when the police accused Seon Hwa of being a spy and funneling money to the North. Despite her pleas that she was simply supporting her family, she was arrested. Jung Hee and Dong Sik were faced with a devastating choice: help their friend and lose their business, or stay silent. Fearful for their employees’ livelihoods, they chose the latter. Seon Hwa tragically died in prison a year later, leaving a void of guilt that would haunt the couple for the rest of their lives.

In the present day, the conflict intensifies over Dong Sik’s final will. The document stipulates that 1/3 of the Idol Shoes company shares must be given to Seon Hwa’s son. This sets Jung Hee on a collision course with her own son, June, who is the current CEO and is represented by the formidable Do Kyung. June is outraged, unable to understand why his mother would jeopardize their family legacy for the son of a “spy.” He views his mother’s current life—selling vegetables on the street—as a sign of stubbornness rather than a pursuit of justice. Meanwhile, I Rang and Na Yeon take on Jung Hee’s case, determined to honor the dying wish of a ghost who still lingers in the halls of his former life.

The supernatural stakes rise when Dong Sik, struggling with his past Alzheimer’s even in the afterlife, begins to inhabit I Rang’s body. There is a beautifully shot, haunting sequence where I Rang (possessed by Dong Sik) wanders to the location of their old shoe shop, only to find it replaced by modern buildings. The confusion and longing in his eyes are palpable. Na Yeon finds him wandering near a street crossing, injured and disoriented. In a moment of vulnerability, she holds his hand and promises to stay by his side, signaling a deepening of the bond between our lead protagonists. The chemistry between I Rang and Na Yeon continues to be a highlight, providing a soft contrast to the heavy themes of the legal battle.

As the legal teams prepare for court, the investigation leads them to Yoon Seong, Seon Hwa’s long-lost son, who is found working in a leather factory. The revelation that he has no idea his mother passed away adds a layer of heartbreak to the story. I Rang and Na Yeon decide to withhold the truth for a moment, waiting for the right time to reveal the tragic fate of Seon Hwa. Back at the office, a lighter moment occurs when Na Yeon gives I Rang a locket containing her phone number, a safety measure in case he gets lost during a possession again. This subtle romantic tension is interrupted by Dong Sik’s spirit, who playfully teases I Rang about being in love.

The climax of the episode takes place in a tense courtroom showdown. Do Kyung presents a shocking piece of evidence: a police document naming Jung Hee as the informant who originally reported Seon Hwa to the authorities. This bombshell suggests that the 1/3 share in the will was not just a gift, but “blood money” fueled by decades of guilt. As the accusations fly, the spirit of Dong Sik becomes enraged. He takes full control of I Rang’s body, screaming out in open court that he wrote the will himself and that the truth is being twisted. The chaos is only halted when Bong Soo splashes water on I Rang’s face, forcing the spirit to retreat and leaving the courtroom in a state of absolute shock.

Phantom Lawyer Episode 10 ends on this massive cliffhanger, leaving viewers to wonder if Jung Hee truly betrayed her friend out of jealousy or if there is a deeper conspiracy at play. The episode masterfully weaves themes of redemption, the weight of the past, and the complexity of human loyalty. As we look forward to Episode 11, the question remains: Can I Rang and Na Yeon clear Jung Hee’s name, or will the ghost of the past finally destroy the legacy of Idol Shoes? This episode is a testament to why Phantom Lawyer has become a must-watch series, blending high-stakes legal drama with a supernatural heart that keeps audiences coming back for more.
