K-drama fans, prepare your tissues. Breakout actress Kim Min-ha is officially set to star alongside Lee Do-hyun in the upcoming highly anticipated Korean remake of the hit Chinese romance film Viva La Vida (also widely known by its literal title, Let’s Shake Our Sun). The original 2024 film, which gained massive international popularity on Netflix, struck a chord globally with its raw and emotional portrayal of love amidst tragedy.

Kim Min Ha Undergoes Drastic Physical Transformation for Terminal Role

According to exclusive Korean film industry insiders, Kim Min-ha has officially locked in her role for the domestic adaptation, titled Shake Our Sun (directed by Park Dan-hee). Filming is scheduled to commence early this autumn, distributed by Ace Maker Movie Works.

The Pachinko actress recently sparked intense concern online after debuted a shockingly emaciated, “bone-thin” physique. It has now been revealed that this drastic weight loss was a dedicated, professional choice. Kim Min-ha committed to the project early on, undergoing rigorous dietary changes and workouts to realistically embody a character fighting a severe, terminal illness.

A Tear-Jerking Tale of Two Strangers Living on Borrowed Time

Based on a poignant true story, Shake Our Sun follows two strangers who are both living on borrowed time due to chronic, life-threatening illnesses. In the original 2024 source material, the female protagonist suffers from severe uremia caused by total kidney failure, enduring grueling dialysis sessions three times a week while facing a prognosis of less than a year to live without a donor transplant.

When the two terminally ill individuals cross paths, they forge an unexpected, deeply moving alliance. Together, they embark on a journey to discover the true meaning of love, hope, and human connection in their final remaining days.

A Powerhouse Cast and Creative Team

This film marks an exciting new milestone for Kim Min-ha, who captured global hearts in Apple TV+’s Pachinko and has built an impressive resume with projects like The Lighting Store and One Week Before I Die. Starring opposite The Glory and Exhuma breakout star Lee Do-hyun, the duo is expected to showcase unparalleled, emotionally charged on-screen chemistry.

At the helm is Director Park Dan-hee, widely acclaimed for building tension and deep emotional resonance in hit K-dramas like Weak Hero Class 1 and Blue Birthday. While the script will undergo minor updates to better fit Korean domestic sentiments, the core, tear-jerking premise of the original masterpiece will remain entirely untouched.
