The world of corporate intrigue and romantic tension has a new home in the latest K-Drama sensation, and our Filing for Love Episode 1 Recap dives straight into the chaos that defines the Haemu Group. The episode kicks off with a high-stakes sequence featuring our charismatic protagonist, Ki Joon, who has earned the nickname “Mr. Smile” within the office walls. However, Ki Joon is far more than just a friendly face; he is a sharp-witted investigator for the Audit Team One at Haemu Group. We first see him using a high-tech drone to conduct a secret investigation into Director Kang, who is suspected of shady dealings. Despite Director Kang’s attempts to appear untouchable during a meeting, Ki Joon’s drone captures the evidence needed to bring him down. The tension rises when a mysterious girl spots Ki Joon and questions if he is a police officer, but he quickly deflects, keeping his true identity as a corporate auditor under wraps.

The confrontation between Ki Joon and Director Kang is a masterclass in leverage. When Kang threatens to sue Ki Joon for illegal surveillance, Ki Joon remains unfazed. He drops a bombshell: he knows Kang has been meeting with an individual from North Korea. In the world of high-level corporate auditing, this transforms a simple industrial espionage case into a full-blown national security issue. Facing a lifetime behind bars, Kang is silenced instantly. This opening sequence perfectly sets the tone for the series, establishing Ki Joon as a man who knows exactly how to play the game of power. However, the corporate world isn’t just about spies and secrets; it’s also about the bizarre personal lives of the employees. While Ki Joon handles international threats, Audit Team Three is busy investigating a man accused of hiding his marital status—all based on a tip about a specific mole on his body. The absurdity of the workplace is on full display as the man literally drops his pants to prove his innocence, highlighting the range of “misconduct” the audit teams must handle.

As Ki Joon arrives at work the next day, the atmosphere at Haemu Group is buzzing. A PR clip featuring him has gone viral, solidifying his status as a popular figure. We are then introduced to the power players of the company: Jae Yeol, the sophisticated Vice Chairman, and his efficient secretary, A Jeong. In a subtle moment of workplace humor, Jae Yeol notices that Ki Joon is wearing the exact same tie as him, leading to a brief but memorable interaction. But the lighthearted mood is short-lived for Ki Joon. While in the elevator, a colleague named Ji Hye corners him. In a shocking move, she drags him into the stairwell and kisses him forcefully. Ki Joon, ever the professional, pushes her away, reminding her that she is about to get married. Ji Hye confesses her pre-wedding jitters and a desire for a final fling, but Ki Joon firmly rejects her advances. Unknown to them, someone was watching from behind the closing door, and the glimpse of a bag suggests it might be our female lead.

The real shift in the story occurs with the arrival of the legendary In A. Known by many names, including “Jo Sniper” and “In-Out,” her reputation precedes her. Rumors swirl among the employees about her past—some say she once took down a group of criminals overseas with a single gun. The office falls into a state of panic as they track her movement through the building via group chats. When she finally steps onto the 14th floor, the tension is palpable. Contrary to the terrifying rumors, In A enters the office with a bright smile, greeting everyone warmly. The employees begin to relax, thinking the stories were exaggerated, but Ki Joon remains cautious. His instincts prove correct when In A’s professional side emerges. She ruthlessly denies a transfer request for an employee involved in a slush fund scandal, proving that her “Sniper” nickname is well-earned.

In A’s arrival isn’t just a change in management; it’s a direct hit to Ki Joon’s career path. After a series of intense one-on-one meetings that leave other employees in tears or feigning illness, it’s finally Ki Joon’s turn. In A looks over his resume and acknowledges his talent, but then she drops the hammer: Ki Joon is being transferred to Audit Team Three. This team is the “junk drawer” of the department, handling personal misconduct, office affairs, and petty scandals rather than high-level embezzlement. Ki Joon is devastated and tries to argue his way out, citing his current important cases. In A, however, is unmoved. She mocks his “superman” complex and tells him that if he’s so good at his job, he’ll excel in Team Three as well. Her laughter at his desperation adds a layer of complex chemistry between them, leaving Ki Joon stuck in a department he feels is beneath him.

Life in Audit Team Three is as colorful as expected. Ki Joon meets his new teammates: the leader Gwang Gil, the accountant Hae Yeong, the manager Sung Tae, the senior associate Hyun Kyu, and the assistant manager Da Ye. Their tasks are a far cry from catching international spies. Instead, they deal with complaints about team leaders farting in the office and frantic wives suspecting their husbands of cheating. One such wife, Young Hee, arrives at the office with “evidence” of her husband Myung Soo’s infidelity. She hands Ki Joon a bag full of items she found, which turn out to be condoms. Disgusted and overwhelmed, Ki Joon flees to the restroom to wash his hands, where he runs into In A. She notices his distress and suggests he take a break if the work is too hard, which only fuels Ki Joon’s frustration.

The plot thickens as we see the domestic life of Myung Soo and Young Hee. Myung Soo is indeed acting suspicious, ignoring his wife’s calls while out with a female colleague named Mi Young. Young Hee’s jealousy reaches a breaking point as she searches restaurants for him, eventually hallucinating that she sees them kissing in a car. Back at the office, Ki Joon is tasked with investigating the alleged affair. He finds a hair on Myung Soo’s clothes and contemplates a DNA test but ultimately decides the whole thing is a misunderstanding born of Young Hee’s delusions. He tosses the evidence and tries to move on to his next absurd assignment: finding a lost puppy in a garden for a high-ranking executive.

The climax of the episode brings all these threads together. While Ki Joon is dismissing Young Hee’s concerns over the phone, telling her she needs a doctor, In A is doing her own investigating. She observes Myung Soo and Mi Young together and realizes that Ki Joon’s assessment was wrong—there is definitely something going on. Later, in the elevator, In A challenges Ki Joon’s report, telling him he needs to look closer. Just as they exit the building, chaos erupts. A car driven by a vengeful Young Hee comes speeding toward them. In a moment of bravery, Ki Joon pulls In A out of harm’s way, and she ends up falling on top of him. Young Hee steps out of the car with a rod, ready to attack Ki Joon for calling her delusional. As Ki Joon tries to retreat, he slips and begins to fall. In a dramatic reversal, In A catches him in her arms, saving him from a nasty spill. The episode ends with Ki Joon looking up at In A before fainting, leaving viewers breathless and eager for the next installment of this wild corporate ride.
