Agent Kim Reactivated Episode 5 picks up directly from the Episode 4 cliffhanger at the Busan port cold storage, with Min Ji alive and locked inside a freezer container, Kim torturing Sang Man for answers, and Golden Tooth realizing the girl he was paid to kill is still breathing. The episode, starring Kim / Code 66, Han Soo, Jin Cheol, Gang Chan, and Min Ji, splits between a quiet 2014 flashback and a brutal present-day port showdown that ends with Gang Chan kidnapping Min Ji.
Agent Kim Reactivated Episode 5 opens in 2014 with Kim’s quiet life
Agent Kim Reactivated Episode 5 starts in 2014, not 2025. Kim has been discharged. Code 66 is officially retired. He is moving into a quiet rural house with his young daughter, Min Ji, trying to live like a normal father for the first time.
Han Soo and Jin Cheol are there helping him carry boxes. It is the only peaceful moment in the entire series so far. Min Ji wanders off with neighborhood kids to play hide-and-seek near an empty house. She hides in a locked storage room, gets trapped, and the owner unknowingly locks the door from outside.
Kim panics. He, Han Soo and Jin Cheol search the entire ground. Min Ji screams for help from a window and a passing local girl hears her and runs to get Kim. He finds her seconds later, breaks down, and holds her. Min Ji, completely calm, explains how she memorized landmarks to find her way home. It is the first clear look at why Kim left the SMD and why Min Ji is so resourceful — and it sets up the entire emotional core of Agent Kim Reactivated Episode 5.
The port interrogation: Kim vs. Sang Man and Golden Tooth
The story cuts hard back to the present. Golden Tooth has found Min Ji alive in the cold storage unit. He tries to call Sang Man, gets no answer, and sends his own crew to the port.
At the same time, Kim has Sang Man tied up in a warehouse office. Sang Man begs, asking if Gang Chan sent him. He confesses: “Hye Ri told us to do it. We dumped the body. She’s in the cold storage room.” Kim loses control. Sang Man grabs a live wire trying to electrocute Kim, shocks himself instead, and dies on the spot.
Kang Min, Sang Man’s lieutenant, runs. SMD Director Guk Cheol is still in the water nearby, where Han Soo fishes him out — only for Jin Cheol to ambush them both. Jin Cheol had already escaped Assemblyman Sim’s agents in the back of their car, knocked them out, and stolen their vehicle. He, Han Soo and an unconscious Guk Cheol now team up to hit the port, lifting Guk Cheol’s wallet and credit cards to buy weapons.
Kim chases Kang Min, rams his escape car head-on, and forces him at gunpoint to lead him to the freezer.

Min Ji fights back, and Gang Seong’s brother reveal changes everything
Inside the cold storage, Golden Tooth tries to talk Min Ji out. She refuses. “I know you’re lying. You killed your own security guard and threw him in the water. You’ll kill me the second I open the door,” she tells him. He tells her to freeze to death then.
Outside, Kim takes down six of Golden Tooth’s men in a hallway brawl the camera cuts away from, stuffs Kang Min in a shipping container, and walks straight into a bigger threat: Gang Seong.
Gang Seong guns down the remaining guards and calls out Kim. He is Gong’s younger brother. For three seasons viewers have only heard the name — Agent Kim Reactivated Episode 5 finally shows what happened to Gong.
The extended flashback is the best sequence of the episode. Kim and Gong training together in the North, knife sparring, sharing food in the barracks. Gong tells Kim his last name is Kim, because when they were beaten and dragged in as children, Gong was the only one who remembered it. “No one remembers me. So you remember me,” he says. Their first real mission is a setup leaked by Gong’s own handler. A bomb rips through the safe house. Gong’s legs are gone. North soldiers close in. Kim tries to shoot himself so they die together. Gong stops him: “Promise me. No matter what, you stay alive. Find out why they sent us to hell.”
Director Jang’s South Korean team arrests Kim minutes later and recruits him as Code 66, confirming the leak came from Gong’s own side so a deputy general could get promoted.
In the present, Gang Seong stabs Kim in the shoulder, screaming that Kim betrayed his brother. Kim does not fight back. He repeats Gong’s last words verbatim. Gang Seong freezes — it is exactly what Gong told him the day he was taken from their village. Realizing Kim kept his promise for 12 years, he lets him go.
While that happens, Min Ji saves herself. Golden Tooth enters the freezer with a knife. She smashes a metal rod into the back of his head, knocks him cold, runs out, hits Kang Min in the face too, and sprints for the port wall.
Agent Kim Reactivated Episode 5 ending explained: Gang Chan takes Min Ji
Kim reaches the freezer five minutes too late. Min Ji is gone. On the steel door she left a handwritten note in marker: “Dad, sorry. I’m scared.” It is the first proof in two episodes that she is truly alive, and Kim breaks.
He spots her climbing the outer port fence 200 meters away and screams her name, but the cranes drown him out. She slips out.
Nam and Gang Chan’s clean-up team arrives at that exact moment, finds Sang Man dead, and begins a sweep. Nam tortures Golden Tooth for the girl’s body, learns she escaped alive, and locks the port down. Golden Tooth later stabs Nam’s guard and vanishes.
The SMD side turns comic for a beat. Jin Cheol goes full shopping spree with Guk Cheol’s black card to stock weapons. Han Soo buys a scooter from a roadside ajumma, changes out of his wet suit, and races to the port alone.
Desperate, Kim calls SMD analyst Sang A directly. He gives his GPS location on the coastal road, tells her Min Ji was seen hitchhiking east, and promises: “Help me find her. I’ll surrender to you myself.” Sang A and Mr. Lim convince a furious Director Guk Cheol to trace the car. The SMD team tracks a silver sedan that picked up a teenage girl at 11:47 p.m. near Gate 4.
Agent Kim Reactivated Episode 5 ends on the biggest twist yet. The driver is Gang Chan. Min Ji is unconscious in his back seat, drugged. He looks at her in the rearview mirror, smiles, and tells his aide: “My Hye Ri is very lucky.”
It confirms what Sang Man hinted at — Hye Ri ordered the hit, and Gang Chan has been protecting Min Ji, or more accurately, protecting Hye Ri’s secret, the entire time. Kim is now walking into a trap set by the one man who knows exactly who Code 66 really is.
Agent Kim Reactivated Episode 5 closes the Gong backstory, gives Min Ji her first real action hero moment, and flips the kidnapping plot completely, with Gang Chan now holding Kim’s only weakness.
