The second episode of We Are All Trying Here intensifies the emotional warfare between the elite and the overlooked. Following the disastrous party, Dong Man finds himself spiraling. We see him back at his favorite spot, screaming his name into the void to reaffirm his existence. However, this act of desperation leads to a police visit after neighbors complain about the noise. Dong Man, ever the eccentric, lies and blames his brother, Jin Man, claiming he is the one shouting from the fields. Meanwhile, the truth behind Dong Man’s arm injury is revealed: he didn’t get into a heroic fight, but actually slipped on his own screenplay while trying to attack the arrogant Dong Hyeon.

Internal politics within The Eight Club reach a breaking point. Gyeong Se, still nursing a bruised forehead and a bruised ego, demands that Dong Man be permanently expelled. He gives the group an ultimatum: it’s either him or Dong Man. While Yeong Su tries to defend their 20-year bond, the cold-hearted Hye Jin takes charge. She confronts Dong Man, telling him that his mere presence causes everyone stress, and goes as far as posting a “No Entry” sign for him at their hangout. This public humiliation extends to his family when Jin Man tries to defend his brother, only to be banned alongside him.

The narrative shifts beautifully when Eun A enters the frame. Struggling with her own health—manifesting as frequent nosebleeds—and the constant bullying from Dong Hyeon, she finds a kindred spirit in Dong Man. Her doctor notes that her watch displays a mysterious “Unknown” status, a mix of complex emotions and a desire for self-destruction. Despite the toxicity at Choi Film Company, Eun A finds herself drawn to Dong Man’s resilience. In a pivotal scene by the railroad tracks, she challenges him, suggesting that his writing lacks “heart” because he has never truly loved. This spark of criticism, ironically, gives Dong Man the energy he needs to fight back.

The episode concludes with a powerful moment of defiance. Dong Man marches into Dong Hyeon’s office, not to plead, but to call out his cowardice and bullying. He vows to keep trying until he becomes someone great. This newfound courage leaves Eun A smiling at her desk. As they meet again by the tracks, she shares a side dish made by her grandmother, Su Ja. In a touching moment of synchronicity, Dong Man notices their watches are perfectly in sync. For the first time, the “Weather Maker” sees a forecast of hope, realizing that Eun A is more beautiful than any weather he could ever imagine.
